Fantech's SER Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) insures that incoming fresh outdoor air is filtered, and then cooled and dehumidified by the stale outgoing air as it passes through an energy recovery core. The ERV then distributes the incoming conditioned air throughout the home by direct ductwork installed specifically for the ERV or through the ductwork of a forced-air system. In stand-alone systems air is usually exhausted from bathrooms and kitchens, with fresh air delivered to bedrooms and living areas. At 95 degrees Fahrenheit the SER 2004's total heat recovery efficiency is 57% and its net moistuire transfer 64%.
The housing is made of 22 gauge galvanized steel with baked powder coat paint. It is insulated with 1" (25 mm) high density polystyrene foam to prevent condensation. The two motors are factory-balanced ebm motors with backward curved blades and permanently lubricated sealed bearings, engineered to run over 100,000 hours continuously.
The core is a semi-permeable energy recovery core configured for efficient cross-flow ventilation. It is manufactured to withstand extreme temperature variations, and each unit has two washable electrostatic panel type air filters.
Included with the ERV is an external three position rocker switch.
The core, filters, and motors can be easily serviced through a latched access door. The electrical box, placed on the outside of the unit, can also be easily accessed.
